Knew bill in Vietnam spent many dark nights on ambush I was the platoon medic bill was great to talk to remember when he got shrapnel in his thumb he acted like nothing happened laughing and in good spirits

I had tears running down my face when I read the e-mail about Bill's death. It's been 53 years since Vietnam, and I think of the guys that I loved in our platoon and Bill was one of them. Bill was brave and very much dedicated to the platoon. When Bill got his first Purple out in the field, he had a big chunk of shrapnel in his thumb, I thought half of his thumb was going to fall off. He finally got on a chopper and to a hospital. Bill's second Purple heart was when Mary Ann was overrun by the North Vietnamese. Bill had leg wounds. I got to see Bill in the hospital a few days after he was wounded. He told me the first couple of days his legs hurt but was finally feeling better. I wish I could give Bill a big hug,

I just recently found out of Bill's passing, Bill and I served together in Vietnam Americal Division 2nd platoon, he was my brother in arms and a friend, it was a pleasure to get together with Bill at our Veterans' reunions in Wisconsin, I miss you my brother and RIP.
