Arthur Hatfield

Obituary of Arthur Lee Hatfield

Arthur Lee Hatfield was born in Morley, Tennessee on April 6, 1947.   He was one of two children born from the union of Horace and Beatrice (York) Hatfield.   While Art was in grade school the family would move North and make their home in Monroe County.   Art would graduate with the Class of 1965 from Erie Mason High School.   He enlisted in the United States Navy proudly serving his country from 1966-1970.

Art married the love of his life the former, Margaret Billmaier, on August 19, 1972 at Zion United Methodist Church in LaSalle.  The couple would soon be blessed with one son:  Brian. Art was an excellent provider.   A hard worker he was employed by Ford Motor Company on the assembly line for more than thirty-six years.   He retired in 1998 only due to his heart condition.

Arthur enjoyed being outside.   His favorite pastime was that of fishing and he loved to cast a line everywhere he could with Bolles Harbor being a favorite destination.   For more than thirty years he and Margaret had enjoyed camping at Sunny's Campground in Wauseon, Ohio, which happened to be another favorite place to fish.

Arthur was many things throughout this life.   Although he could be a workaholic, he valued being a father to Brian, first and foremost.   Truly an amazing man, he was known to be generous, selfless, and caring.   He was a clean freak who could never sit still.   Art was equipped with a great sense of humor, and he never missed an opportunity to pull a prank on those he loved.

Arthur Lee Hatfield, age 74, of Monroe, passed away on Saturday; October 2, 2021, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.   He had been under the care of ProMedica Monroe Hospice.   His passing was preceded by both his parents and his beloved wife of forty-five years:  Margaret.

To cherish his memory, Arthur leaves one son and his fiance: Brian Hatfield (Rebecca McGhee) of Monroe; one sister:  Louise Hatfield of Pennsylvania; Rebecca's children:  Austin Allenbaugh, Makenzie Allenbaugh, and Ian Allenbaugh; and one grandpup:  Gracie Ann.
