Rosary Thompson

Obituary of Rosary Thompson

Rosary Giacobelli was born in Highland Park, Michigan on February 23, 1918.   She was the daughter of Emil Giacobelli and Giovanna (Rossi) Buttazzoni.   Following high school, Rosary would continue her education, earning a bachelor’s degree.   This to say the least was quite a substantial accomplishment for a woman at that time.

Rosary would marry four times throughout her life with each husband passing before her.   From her union with, Donald Stewart, she would be blessed with the birth of three sons.   In addition to caring for the needs of her family, Rosary, would also work outside the home.   She was employed by Wayne County for many years as a secretary before retiring in 1980.

Rosary loved her cats, and she lovingly would share her home with the four-legged felines. One occasion she had four cats living with her at a time.   She cherished the company of others none more than her own family.   She enjoyed conversation over a meal with holiday dinners and family get-togethers being highlights of her life.   Rosary loved a good roast, her coffee, and bread.   It seemed she liked to put sugar on just about everything.

Rosary had a passion for lifelong learning and liked reading all types of materials.   She remained active into her 90’s.   She enjoyed dancing and attending activities at the senior community center.

For the past seven years the family was blessed to have Janice Valerio serving as a caregiver to Rosary.   Her love and devotion certainly enhanced her quality of life.
