Obituary of Joseph Folk

Joseph Michael Folk Born to Joseph and Anna Folk on December 13, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio, unexpectedly passed away of natural causes on November 25, 2013 in Culver City, California. Joe graduated class salutatorian from Erie Mason High School in 1973. Joe received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State University. He began his career in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and subsequently with Hughes Space & Communications in June of 1980. Joe remained with the Passive Microwave Group through several transitions including Boeing Space & Communications, L-3 Communications Electron Technologies and finally COM DEV USA, LLC. Joe was a brilliant electrical engineer and contributed much over his 30 plus years of service supporting key satellite programs critical to communications and national defense. Joe was well respected for his contributions to the success of these organizations. He is survived by his mother Anna Folk; sisters Maria (Bill) Bowerman and Frances Folk; nieces Courtney Bowerman and Ashley Folk; and nephew Stuart Bowerman. Joe was predeceased by his father Joseph Folk. Private family services will be held at a future date. The family is being served by Merkle Funeral Home in Monroe. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice in Joe's memory.
