Anthony Easter

Obituary of Anthony Gray Easter

Anthony Gray Easter was born on November 15, 1952 in Mount Airy, North Carolina.  He was one of six children born from the union of the late Alvis Easter and the late Edna (Woodruff) Easter.   Following his high school graduation, Anthony, would proudly serve this Great Nation as a member of the United States Army.

After his honorable discharge he would find employment in Terre Haute, Indiana as a Custodian for the public-school system.   Anthony would soon make his way to Monroe, Michigan taking a position with City of Monroe maintenance department.   He met the love of his life, the former, Linda Standifer, and they were joined in marriage on August 12, 1974 in Rockwood, Michigan.   They would be blessed with one son:  John.

Anthony was to say the least, quite the fisherman.   He enjoyed casting a line every chance he had, and he loved to prove his friends wrong whenever they informed him that he would never catch anything using a large fishing lure.

Anthony was also quite crafty and very handy.   He preferred to build items himself from scrap over purchasing them from the store.   Anthony used pure ingenuity to repurpose scraps of wood into useful shelves and many birdhouses.

He would also be blessed with having a green thumb.   Anthony looked forward to planting and tending to his flower garden all year.   For many years, he likewise enjoyed vegetable gardening, but had to give this up in frustration due to his inability to control the bug infestation since they seemed to love his plants as much as he did.

Anthony Gray Easter, age 67, of Monroe passed away at 11:40am on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.  In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by a son:  John Easter on August 25, 2017.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his beloved wife of more than forty-five years:  Linda Easter of Monroe; a daughter-in-law:  Barbara Easter; two brothers:  Mike and Phil Easter; three sisters:  Bonnie, Sandy, and Sarah; and several nieces and nephews.
