Doug and I first met in the Cub Scouts at Keppen School (probably 1952). We both live on Mill St. Both our fathers were active in the Pack. Next memory is playing tackle football at Keppen School. Went through High School togeather but kinda hung with different crowds.
Next chapter came when I went to work for the City of Lincoln Park. Doug was already an employee in the Water Dept when I got hired into the Parks Dept. Because of that connection we spent a little time after work at Flappers. We may have shared a wobbly pop or two.
Unique memory of Doug was the LP golf league. "The Mob". It seemed that every time I played against Doug he would slice that ball about as far left as it could go.(He was left handed). It never failed that when would bet a beer on a particular hole that slice would straighten out like a laser beam. He always won the beer and I never learned not to make that bet.
We also shared common paths again when our oldest sons began playing hockey. We coached togeather for a while and then Todd moved up to a higher caliber league and I continued to coach house.
Though we weren't really close in our later years, I will always remember Doug as a classmate, co-worker, and lifelong friend.
