David Charles Jennings was born on September 19, 1953. David married the love of his life, the former Lynn Billmyer, 37 years ago. From this union came the birth of two children.
David Graduated from Monroe High School then went to work for General Motors at the Willow run plant and retired in 2007 after 32 years of service. He was known for working hard until reaching retirement. David coached softball and basketball at St. Patrick's for a number of years. He enjoyed his sports and often went to watch the Detroit Tigers play ball. David often traveled when he wasn't working, and went to places like Las Vegas with his wife. Though they never won much, they both still enjoyed their time together. When David was younger he was avidly shooting pool. David enjoyed reading books when he was winding down, and enjoyed a good crossword puzzle once in a while.
David Charles Jennings, age 59 of Monroe passed away at home unexpectedly, on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. In addition to his parents passing, he was preceded by two brothers: Donald and Larry Jennings.
To cherish his memory, he leaves behind his wife: Lynn Jennings; two daughters: Emily Jennings and Sarah (Aaron) Thomas, both of Monroe; four sisters: Marilyn Tyra of Toledo, Lois Menna of Lambertville, Ruth Sheline of Toledo, and Helen Salter of Temperance; ; a brother: Dennis Jennings of Monroe; and four grandchildren: Gregory and Mariah Crisp, Owen and Abby Thomas.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 N. Monroe St. Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734)384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 11:00am, Friday, August 9, 2013 also at Merkle's with Pastor Kenny Spain from Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
