Dear David, you were good people. For all the years you were a part of our family, your goodness and love shone through. We know how much you loved and cared for your dear Lynn ("Buck"), Sarah and Emily and finally, your beautiful grandchildren. You worked so hard for so many years to care for them yet always had time for whatever Barb needed done at her house. Steve and I will always remember you and your infectious grin, wicked sense of humor, and sharp mind. We had many late nights laughing and talking not only when we lived in the apartments together but also whenever we came up to visit and that's how we carry you in our hearts. Politics, religion, the books you read - those are only a few of the areas our visiting would take. You were always interesting and brought your own great perspective to anything we talked about. Why Baptist preachers wear suits instead of vestments like priests and reverends? I don't know why that particular discussion sticks with both of us, but we can still see you sitting on the hearth at what is now Sarah's house with your beer and cigarette discussing in great depth this question you'd raised. What was so great about this and so many other debates we had was that you'd always listen to and give credit to the other side, even if you didn't always see it. That takes a big mind to do so, and you had that. We also cherish our memories of living in the apartments when Sarah and Heather were little. You seemed to always get the biggest kick out of little "Hebby" and would always ask her how she was because you loved how she would respond, "Pine." She loved you, too. Ah, David, there are so many more memories, but I think these show the kind of man you were - the guy we loved and enjoyed so much. To say everyone will miss you deeply is only stating the obvious. There is a David-sized hole in many hearts now, and it will never be filled. You are at peace, resting in the loving arms of our dear Father in heaven and no doubt grinning at everyone! Love you, Kitty and Steve
Revelation 14:13
Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them."

If not for Dave, I doubt that I would have ever gotten the hang of running a grinder. He taught me more about those machines than anyone else. He was always helpful even when he had his own hands full. Dave was always quick with a joke, and had a great sense of humor. He was party to more than one practical joke and he could always laugh at the times he was at the receiving end too. He shared many a story and always spoke so well of "Buck", never leaving any doubt that she made him the luckiest man on earth. It was a pleasure to have known you old friend.

Every year, David would come to our house and help my mom and I till-up and plant our garden. We would have so much fun talking, laughing and joking. I still smile when I think about the patience he displayed as I showed him probably every rock that surrounded our pool. I don't think he ever knew how much I cherished those times with him. I was lucky to have such an fun and loving godfather.
