Obituary of Saline Snyder

Saline Yvonne Manor was born in Monroe, Michigan on February 19, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Felix and Thelma (Parmenter) Manor. Saline attended Monroe Schools and graduated in 1943 from their high school. During World War II she supported the war effort as a riveter at the Willow Run Bomber Plant.
She married Kenneth Venier. Later Saline married Alton Snyder and the couple made their home in the Tecumseh area. She worked for many years as a cashier for A & P in Monroe, Belleville, Saline, and Adrian.
Saline enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She liked to play the slots and visit the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant. Saline love to create afghans and knitting and sewing were both favorite pastimes. Her family raved about her cooking and baking. Peanut brittle and pies were both specialties.
Saline Yvonne Snyder age 87 of Monroe passed away at 5:15pm, Monday, July 9, 2012 at Medilodge of Monroe. She had been under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by her husband Alton, former spouse: Kenneth; two sisters: Prudy Hall and Phyllis Larkins; three brothers-in-law: John Hall, Clayton Venier, and Harold Larkins; and a step son-in-law: Don Woodson.
To cherish her memory she leaves a son: Mike (Linda) Venier of Monroe; a stepdaughter: Sharon Woodson of Port Clinton, Ohio; six grandchildren: Stephanie Langton of Monroe, Shane (Tina) Venier of Temperance, Saline (Sean) Burke of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, Sheri Sobel, Jeff (Margo) Posick, and Monica Morgan; fourteen great Grandchildren: Hunter Langton, Durke Venier and Gavin Venier, Arrias Riggs, Alexz Riggs, Karter Burke, Keegan Burke, Karson Burke, Kyra and Jacob Sobel and Savanna, Gretchen, and Lydia Poscick; two brothers: Marvin (Ann) Manor of California, Mickey (Karen) Manor of North Carolina; five sisters: Polly Venier of Monroe, Bonnie (Edward) Daniels of Newport, Gail Manor of Florida, Laura Underwood of Maumee, Ohio, and Ucki (Jack) Lauer of Monroe
Friends may gather from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 7:00pm. Cremation will follow.
