Jakup was my bestfriend, I looked up to him like a brother. He seriously meant everything to me. He was the most fantastic person I've ever met. Every person he came in contact with he made them smile. He didn't care how long it took. He'd leave you with a smile. And I was thankful for that everyday. I'm thankful for having this amazing boy in my life. I remember one of the very last days of school. When we we're talking about my birthday party and told me "Courtney, No matter what. I'm coming to your party. I promise." And I believed him. The night before my party I got a call from a friend and found out Jake got into some trouble and wouldn't be able to make it. I cried. The next day I set up for my party and everyone came over. Then around 8pm, I gotta call from him. I answered he goes "What time does the party end beautiful." I told him, and then two hours later he was there. And he looked at me and said "I promised you, no matter what I'd be here" I swear thats one thing I'll never forget. Jake was honestly the only person I've ever trusted with everything. I could tell him every aspect of my life and he wouldn't tell anyone. I love him and miss him more than words could ever say... <3

Jakup Travis MacMullen, He honestly was THE LAST PERSON I thoughy I would lose so soon. He was always there for me and he was famous for the " Cassidy Lynn Smelcer " Line When I would see him in school. ( He knew I hatedd it ) I use to always make fun of him because when I asked him what he wanted to do when he got older he said Be a hair dresser ! ahah He lovedd playing with my hair for some odd reason . He would always tell me my freshmen year "NOO BOYFRIENDS FOR YOU ! , I got people watching." So many stories I could tell but it would take me days.
Lovee you Jakup ! MWAHH !
Lovee Sissyyy. ( Cassidy )

Dear Family of Jakup: I am so sorry that you must endure this pain. I know your loss and how it will change your lives. We do not now understand the reason for his untimely passing, but in time you will know. I have left copies of my recent books at Merkle. In a quiet time, please read: Through the Eyes of a Dove. Many of the passages were sent to us by our son from "the other side." Ride to the Stars will help children to understand. Much love and prayers for your healing. Suzanne Gene Courtney, Monroe, MI

Jakup looks exactly like his dad Jimmy. When jake was younger about 4 or 5 i would say come here little jimmy boo boo (boo boo was his dads nick name)Jakup would stop in his tracks and put his hands on his lil hips turn around and look at me and raise those bushy eyebrows and say;Aunt Sherrie my name is Jakup.i would laugh so hard cause he was a carbon copy of his dad.And i continued to call him that from time to time and and one day he said to me.after i called him that again.Aunt Sherrie did u know my Name is Jakup.Jimmy boo boo is my dad. That memory is the cutest one from his childhood that comes to my mind when i think of Jakup

People never say they are grateful for a moving day. Let's face it, it's never fun to pack up and move what seems like an endless number of boxes. Yet, now, reflecting back on when you helped us last year, we are so thankful for that day! It was an opportunity to spend time with Jakup and he kept us entertained, making a difficult task much more enjoyable. We will always look back on that day with appreciation for the opportunity it gave us to spend some one on one time with a remarkably funny and kind young man. Jakup, you touched many lives in your short time on this earth and you will be incredibly missed.
Love, Uncle Keith & Aunt Renee

I remember back in high school in my junior year me and my friend Stephanie and Jakup would mess around in our civics class. We didn't really like the teacher but I still had fun having class with him and I'm gonna miss that day and I will never forget it. He always made me laugh and put a smile on my face and gave the best hugs that kept me warm. But now I know he's in a better place watching and looking out for everyone who loves and cares about him. God gave him wings and one day God will give us wings so that we will see him again. I will always have him in my heart and I will think about him everyday. Jakup will be loved, missed and never forgotten.
Jakup i love you so much. I will see you again

I only knew Jakup for a short time but I'm thankful for having had the opportunity. I teased Jakup about being the first person I had hired who was younger than my own son (only by two weeks.) Jakup marked that milestone in my Human Resources career, he and my son having just graduated and entered the workforce at the same time - it was so odd to see 1993 as a year of birth on employment paperwork. It was so much easier for me to think of Jakup as old enough to hire than to think of my own son in the same manner. Jakup had a smile that lit up the room and always wore it. I had the opportunity to see that very same smile on this past Wednesday afternoon before he left work for the day - I'm so happy I did and feel so fortunate to have been given the chance to know him, if only for a short while. We were anxious to promote him and assure you that his presence is already missed...his absence already noticed...the areas in which he worked a bit darker. May God help you through this difficult time, as the mother of a son Jakup's age, there are no words I can share that will offer any comfort. I know the sense of loss you are feeling will never cease, I can only trust that there is comfort in knowing that his smile is lighting up heaven, his humor is entertaining the angels and one day you'll be there to smile and laugh alongside him for eternity. In the meantime, he's in good hands...

My thoughts and prayers are with Jakup's family and friends in this tragic time. I had the opportunity to coach Jakup in football at Monroe. Jakup played the game as he lived life, with heart and passion. Reflecting back Jakup had a good heart and cared for his friends and teammates. He will be missed. I will forever remember him as one of my fearsome-4-some. God Bless, Coach Reed
