Danny my boyfriend, it is almost incomprehensible to me that I will never again see your face light up in smiles or hear your beautiful laughter. I loved walking into your room and being greeted with the biggest, most beautiful smile- as if you had waited all day for me to walk through your door. I loved taking care of you Danny, it was such an honor to be one of your nurses. Your loss leaves a void within me, and within all those whose lives you touched. That void will never really be filled until we meet again. I love you Danny and I miss you buddy. Much love, Melissa (midnight nurse on 5West Mott)

Danny was very special to all of us on 5 West Mott. His smile and flirtation would make the difficult times pass and the good times even better. He was a very loved young man by all the staff, especially the nurses. I am happy that we were able to send him home in time to have his last days with his family. He will never be forgotten and he is now smiling down on all of us. May peace come to all of his family at this difficult time and joy in all the wonderful memories of this special young man.

How can you even describe Dan in words? He was such a remarkable young man, with an amazing spirit and great sense of humor. I will always remember his contagious smile, how he laughed at my jokes (even though they weren't very funny!), and our shared love for country music. Dan was such a blessing to all of us that had the privilege to care for him at Mott Children's Hospital. Even though we will miss him deeply, I am so happy he spent his final days pain free, happy, and at peace. God Bless him and your family. Courtney 6 Mott/5 West RN

I had the privilege and pleasure to care for Danny while he was in the ICU at Mott. I truly loved that boy; he brought joy and laughter to my days with him and his spirit could brighten any situation. No matter what he was going through, he would smile and laugh with us. Many of the staff (nurses, techs, doctors) would gather in his room and sing, dance and laugh with Danny. It was impossible to be in a bad mood around him. The last time I saw him before he left the hospital was like any other, filled with smiles. I left that room loving that kid more than ever. Although I am extremely saddened that we lost such an amazing person, I'm glad he is no longer in pain. No one has ever deserved his wings more, and he will live in my heart forever.

I worked with Danny at school. I will always rember his smile. I would tease him and he would give one of his smiles. He always made my day better. May God be with you at this time.

What a great kid! It was a privilege to care for him during this very challenging year. I am so happy that his last few days were mostly pain free and that he was with his family whom he loved so much! There have been many tears shed at the hospital by nurses, doctors, therapists and students who got to know him over the last 9 months.
