Chris Michael Cox was born in Monroe, Michigan on February 8, 1954. He was the son of John H. Cox and Dolores (Finger) Cox. He attended Monroe High School and graduated with the Class of 1972.
Chris was employed by Ford Motor Company for thirty-three years. He worked as a Tool and Die maker in the Monroe Plant Wheel Department before retiring. After retirement Chris returned to work for another year being employed in the Paint Department at the Chrysler Belvedere Plant.
Chris attended Baker College and obtained his Associate Degree in Industrial and Business Management. He married the love of his life Sandy Moyers on October 14, 1994 in Taylor, Michigan at the Little Wedding Chapel.
Chris was a member of the Monroe UAW Local 723. He enjoyed bowling, boating, golfing, and computer games. Chris also enjoyed going for long drives. He enjoyed the company of others and especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Chris was an excellent son to his parents; always taking care of them when able by completing tasks such as mowing the lawn, hanging seasonal decorations, or assisting with paying the bills.
Chris Michael Cox age 57 of Monroe passed away at 12:58am, Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at his Monroe home. He had been under the care of his loving family and the guidance and compassion of Mercy Memorial Hospice.
He leaves to cherish his memory a wife of more than 16 years: Sandy of Monroe; his parents: John and Dolores Cox of Monroe; a daughter: Tracie Cox (Barbara Brooks) of Newport, Michigan; two stepsons: Trevier Parkin and Shawn (Andrea) Parkin both of Monroe; three grandchildren: Kayla Parkin, Marileena Parkin, and Shawn Parkin Jr.; a brother: Jody (Sandy) Cox of Louisiana; and a sister: Beth (Magdy)Elpayaa of Forest Park, Illinois.
Friends may gather from 1:00pm until 8:00pm, Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. He will lie in state from 10:00am until a Celebration of His Life at 11:00am, Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center. Dr. Sean O'Neal and Dan Foor pastors of the church will co-officiate. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle for burial.
