Obituary of Frank "Gary" Furrow

Frank Gary Furrow was born on October 30, 1948, in Monroe, Michigan.  He was one of six children born from the union of Franklin Furrow and Lucille (Jenkins) Furrow. Gary, as he became commonly known, attended and graduated from Dundee High School. To provide for his family, he was gainfully employed as an Ironworker.

As a young man, Gary discovered a fondness for billiards and this pastime quickly grew into a lifelong passion. He participated in leagues throughout Dundee and Toledo. It was in the lively atmosphere of these taverns that Gary truly thrived, honing his skills with each game.

Gary's competitive spirit extended beyond the pool table. He was also an avid outdoorsman, he specifically enjoyed hunting and fishing. Each week, he looked forward to sharing laughs and friendly competition with his teammates.

As he matured, his love for pool evolved into a deeper appreciation for the craft behind the game. He began designing and creating his own pool cues. His natural aptitude for woodworking, combined with his passion for pool, led to a successful small business venture. Gary's pool sticks became known for their quality and craftsmanship, and he took great pride in selling them to fellow players who appreciated the artistry and precision he poured into each piece.

In his leisure time, Gary found relaxation in the timeless shows of Westerns and John Wayne movies.

Frank “Gary” Furrow, age 76, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, formerly of Dundee, Michigan passed away under hospice care at Parkview Hospital Randalia in Fort Wayne, Indiana, at 7:25pm on Monday, December 9, 2024.  His passing was preceded by his parents and two brothers: Harold "Lucky” Furrow and Lonnie Furrow.

To cherish his memory, he leaves three daughters: Samantha Cowen, Tammie Furrow, and Kristen Furrow; one son: Butch Furrow; three siblings: Randy (Diana) Furrow, Brenda (Al) Lowery, and Stacy (Mike) Guinn; three grandchildren: Cory (Abigail) LaMonde, Katie (Brandon) Millership, and Chloe Cowen; and one great grandchild: Rory LaMonde.

Friends may gather on Sunday; December 15, 2024, from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee; 297 Tecumseh Street, Dundee, Michigan 48131 (734) 529-3156. A Celebration of His Life will take place at 5:00pm also at Merkle’s. Cremation will follow through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
