Obituary of Barbara Jane Rabideau
Barbara Jane Rentchler was born in Pamona, California to Frank Rentchler and Helen (Southworth) Rentchler on January 7, 1935. She graduated high school and went on to marry the love of her life James Rabideau.
Barbara's greatest joy came from her cherished role as a homemaker to her five beloved children. With a heart full of love, she dedicated herself to nurturing her family, weaving warmth into their lives just as she did with her beautiful knitting. Her skilled hands crafted an array of sweaters that adorned her children during chilly winters and designed baby blankets that wrapped her grandchildren in comfort. The tantalizing aromas of her delicious baked goods filled the kitchen, where sweet treats brought everyone together for family gatherings, forging unforgettable moments.
In her garden, Barbara cultivated not only flowers but also a sense of peace and beauty that enveloped her home. Each vibrant bloom was a testament to her nurturing spirit, and her green thumb turned her outdoor space into a sanctuary. Family fishing trips were among her most treasured adventures, where laughter echoed across the water as they cast their lines together. These excursions created lasting memories filled with stories shared and lessons learned, each catch strengthening their bonds.
A devoted member of the Eastern Star, Barbara was actively involved in her community through her church, Dundee United Methodist Church, and as a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW. She held memberships in the USS Columbus Veterans Association and the American Legion. Barbara was an avid collector and enjoyed gathering Thomas Kinkade plates and postcards, showcasing her appreciation for art and history. She was a dedicated sports fan, passionately cheering for the Tigers and Lions, and was never absent from the stands at her children's and grandchildren’s sporting events, supporting them with enthusiasm and love.
