Obituary of Judith Ann Miller
Judith Ann Short was born on April 25, 1945, in Monroe, Michigan, to the union of Gordan and Ina (Fortner) Short. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1963 and went on to marry the love of her life, Douglas Miller, in 1967. Together, they shared a deep bond and a loving family, welcoming their son, John, into the world.
Judith devoted herself to her family as a homemaker, finding joy and purpose in creating a warm and nurturing home. She was an avid reader with a passion for learning, amassing an extensive collection of architecture books that inspired her love for the subject. Judith’s keen eye for detail shone through when she offered her son thoughtful advice while he built his new home, ensuring that it reflected a sense of beauty and style.
In addition to her interest in architecture, Judith had a particular fondness for mystery novels that captivated her imagination and kept her enthralled for hours. She also enjoyed watching classic television shows from the 1940s and 50s, with a special love for the series "Gunsmoke."
Judith was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she embraced her faith and contributed to her community. She leaves behind a legacy of love, knowledge, and dedication to family that will be cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
Judith Ann Miller, age 79, a lifelong resident of Monroe, passed away on Tuesday; October 22, 2024, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Her passing was preceded by her parents: Gordan and Ina as well as her loving husband Douglas Miller.
Judith is survived by her beloved son: John. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Private inurnment has taken place at Northside Cemetery in Maybee, Michigan. A memorial service to honor Judith's life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church; 630 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Her care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162 (734) 384-5185. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
