Obituary of Jerry A Mapley
Jerry A Mapley, 71, of Newport, Michigan, was freed from his earthly body surrounded by family at home on July 7, 2024. Jerry was born on March 18, 1953, in Pontiac, Michigan to Mary Katherine and Jack Mapley. He was a loving father to Timothy (Monika), Lenae, Ashley (Jarid), and Nathaniel. Jerry graduated from Pontiac Northern high school, class of 1971. Jerry is proceeded in death by his Mom Kate, Dad Jack, daughter Lenae, girlfriend Karly, and brother Tom.
Jerry had the gift of sarcasm and the wit to make anyone laugh and smile. He was a big kid, always engaged with his whole heart.
His small, funny gestures and big heart were his greatest assets. In his free time, Dad enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren (9), and close friends. In solitude, Dad enjoyed fixing gas engines and equipment. He enjoyed trying and savoring different food - from the simple tortilla at home to daily trips to favorite restaurants. He loved to camp and fish. Flea marketing and making a deal were his passion.
Dad was a music lover - in younger years rock such as Pearl Jam, Counting Crows and Papa Roach and later also country such as Luke Bryan and Luke Combs.
Jerry held many titles but the most useful was that of Master Mechanic. He worked at Auto Alliance and later retired from Ford.
Special thanks to Ray Fowler for being Jerry's dedicated companion and friend for many years, taking special care of him specifically in the last few months of his life.
