Obituary of Agripina Rincon
Agripina Abalos was born on June 23, 1943 in Weslaco, Texas to Epifania Narballs and Anastacio Abalos Sr. After her mother’s passing when Pina was only two years old, her aunts took her under their wing. She grew up in Fremont, Ohio where she later met the love of her life, Juan Rincon, while working at a sauerkraut canning factory as a young woman. The couple quickly became inseparable and were joined in marriage on August 25, 1958 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont. In 1976, Juan’s employment brought the family to Monroe, Michigan where they welcomed their third child, Estevan, who joined older siblings, Ismael and Sofia. Pina devoted her life to caring for her home and family. She took great pride in being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Agripina loved listening to traditional Mexican music and dancing the night away with her husband. A talented cook, she made delicious tamales and menudo. The children in Pina’s neighborhood flocked to her home when she’d make fresh flour tortillas with butter. She often picked up her grandchildren and took them to McDonald’s restaurant for food and playtime. If you came to her home, she was sure to feed you, whether you were hungry or not!
Pina enjoyed playing Mexican bingo and kept her mind sharp completing word searches. She tuned into the “Family Feud” gameshow and Spanish television programing to watch Telenovelas and the court show “Caso Cerrado”. Pina also loved to go garage saleing alongside her sister, Alicia, in search of a good deal.
Family was always Agripina’s first priority. She had a soft-spot for her grandkids and couldn’t seem to resist honoring their every request. Pina was firm in her beliefs and knew what she wanted. She was well respected by all in her community and well known to be friendly, kind and caring. A generous woman, Pina helped everyone in any way she could.
