Obituary of Gordon Alan Wagner Jr.

Please share a memory of Gordon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gordon Alan Wagner Jr. was born in Maumee, Ohio on May 29, 1931. He was the eldest of three children born to Gordon Alan and Eva (Hemminger) Wagner Sr. Growing up on the family farm, Gordon, was given the nickname “Sonny”.  The Wagner’s planted potatoes, corn, and soybeans, selling their harvest directly to the public from their barn “store”.

For several years Gordon drove a school bus for Springfield Township Schools. He was later employed as a custodian at Perrysburg Public Schools.

A talented crafter, Gordon created stained glass works including Tiffany style lamps and garden stones. He made birdhouses and once gifted his son a bird condo, complete with stained glass windows. He also had an extensive collection of ceramic coated metal housewares. Gordon enjoyed reading the newspaper to keep up with current events and never missed a news broadcast. Naturally, he had stayed in tune with the weather forecast to ensure the crops on the farm were watered. Although Gordon was naturally quiet and introverted, he was always cordial and pushed himself to converse to be a good salesperson for the family business.

Gordon Alan Wagner Jr., age 93, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at Fountainview on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. His passing was preceded by his parents; a sister: Bonnie Stamm; and a sister-in-law: Annette Wagner.
