Obituary of Veronica Brixteen Zacharias
Veronica Brixteen Workman was born in Buchannan, West Virginia on November 15, 1952. She was one of eight children born to the union of Fred Workman and Margaret (Butcher) Workman. She moved to Michigan as a young girl and received her formal education at Airport Community Schools and Jefferson High School.
Veronica took a leap of faith, and after only a one-month courtship she was joined in holy matrimony to Michael D. Zacharias on September 1, 1972, in Monroe, Michigan. The couple were blessed with two children. She was employed in the automotive industry for Milan Metal Systems as a Press Operator, retiring in 2008 after fourteen years of service.
Veronica had a strong Christian faith and she regularly attended worship at Faith Salvation prior to joining Gracepoint United Pentecostal Church in Monroe. After moving to Niles, Ohio she found her church home at Evening Light Apostolic Church.
Veronica never liked to sit still, and she had a generous spirit. For many years she enjoyed ceramics. She also liked to sew and was an avid quilter, giving many of her handmade creations away. In the Summer months, she could be found out in the garden tending to her vegetables.
