Obituary of Constance Marie Hites
Constance Marie Hites was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 14, 1947. She was one of four children born from the union of Robert Hites and Vera (Moore) Hites. She was a 1965 graduate of Maumee High School.
Connie did many things to help make ends meet from working as a dispatcher for a freight company to driving a school bus for Blissfield Schools. She even sold Avon, although it was more so she could enjoy the discounts.
First and foremost, Connie was a homemaker. She provided a wonderful and safe home for her son: Chad. She was also his biggest fan and supporter. She used her position as a bus driver as an opportunity to travel to all of Chad’s away football games and wrestling meets and get paid to be a spectator.
She was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and NASCAR racing with Dale Jarrett being her favorite driver. When her health was good, she made the most of being outside and was an expert gardener. She looked forward to canning beans and strawberries and making homemade apple sauce. Chad was all too happy to help as well. As her health declined, she challenged her mind and filled much of her free time playing online games.
Connie counted being a mother as one of her greatest accomplishments in life. The joy that she had from raising a son was only overshadowed when she became a Nana, oh how she loved her granddaughter.
Constance Marie “Connie” Hites, age 76 of Erie passed away at her home unexpectedly on Sunday; February 18, 2024. Her passing was preceded by her parents and a beloved four-legged companion: Sophie, a wired-hair Jack Russell Terrier.
To cherish her memory, she leaves a son: Chad (Kellie) Reigle of Monroe; two sisters: Rhonda Schmidt and Jackie Hites; one brother: Robert (Jill) Hites Jr.; one granddaughter: Sarah Reigle of Dearborn Heights; two great grandchildren: Aryenne Brancheau and Emilia Espinosa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
No public services are planned, but a private service will be held at the Footprints Feature at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, Michigan.
