Doug Bayer posted a condolence

I want to offer my Condolences. I've known John since I was 14 years old. When he worked for the Monroe Police Department. I was a Law Enforcement Explorer. John would let me ride with him while on patrol. Though I was socially awkward. He was always patient. Down the road I started working for the City of Inkster Police. One day during a raid briefing this heavy set bearded biker type started messing with me..And I mean bad. Everything from my personal appearance to my ability to cover the entry team. It wasn't until after the raid he let me in on the secret. Never recognized him. The only reason he came clean. Was a fellow loan officer from Monroe took his joking serious. And wanted me reassigned. John told him I trust Bayer with my life.Thank you John for believing in me. And understood that teenagers grow up.

Sending my condolences to the family. John was a great guy and you could tell he loved his job as a police officer. He was always there to assist the kids during events and always had a smile on his face. He will be missed dearly.

T.W.A. to man who brought a smile to everyone. You delivered patience, kindness and humor to even the most trying of situations. Uncle John- Your presence as I grew up, taught me more than I was ever able to express. I remember mimi making me birthday cakes every year and at each and every birthday in that little kitchen on First street, I remember you with your smile and jokes. You taught me how to count money, how to fish, and how to drive a car with my knees. You were there with me the first time I shot a gun, hunting with you and Uncle Danny up at the resort. When my mother and I lived with you and mimi for a while, you were there to play, to wipe away my tears and to always make me laugh. You taught me to keep my chin up, even when it's tough. Even when I went through my struggles with poor choices, you kept your distance BUT YOU WERE THERE. Beneath all of my memories, you were always there when I needed you. Thank you for showing me how a good man lives. I love you forever. XOX

I worked with John between 1978 and 1982 while on the Monroe Police Reserves. Enjoyed working with him and he was one of the officers who launched my career into becoming a full-time certified police officer. He will be missed.

When I was working at the registers, at Cabela's, he would come by and talk to me. Shared many things since I worked there. Going to miss Johnny O. RIP Buddy. Better stop now before I can't see the key board through the tears.

Uncle John, you will be sadly missed. I loved your outgoing bubbley personality. I remember the day you retired from MPD, you said "living every day like it's Saturday". My condolences to the family. - Bryan Mozingo "B"

I have known John for over 52 years & will miss him terribly. He was the best neighbor in the whole world as were his parents before him. He would fill my tires, lift heavy objects, start a generator, invite me to their parties, send over food, and so much more. He was funny, generous, giving, & warm hearted. What can I say, but thank you John for being you. Your neighbor, Brenda

I had the pleasure of seeing John at Speedway just about every day that he was on duty for years. He made me laugh and smile on a daily basis, and I am so grateful for those memories. He always had such a contagious smile on his face every single time I saw him. He influenced the lives of so many people and could turn anyone’s day around. My condolences go out to his family. He will most definitely be watching over you all. ❤️

Right now, I have no words. Between tears, a brief giggle comes through as I think of your sense of humor. A man with discernment and solid focus on what was important to him. My uncle loved his family and his country. A warm soul who will always be remembered fondly with SO MUCH LOVE ❤️ Forever we will honor your memory with love Uncle John.

Sgt O. Was the initiating LEO who encouraged me to pursue the passion of serving as Law Enforcement Officer in the Dundee Community. He shared his experiences and some hats, I was hooked. My first calls were with him. Here you drive and UTL. Thank you Sir.
