Obituary of Kevin Westly Johnstone
Kevin Westly Johnstone, or “Pap” as he became affectionately known by his grandchildren, was born on November 1, 1955, in Dearborn, Michigan. He was one of five children born to the union of Edward Johnstone and Agnes (Bailey) Johnstone. Kevin was educated in the downriver community attending Taylor Kennedy High School in Taylor, Michigan.
For more than fourteen years, Kevin was employed in production by the Ford Motor Company. A proud UAW member he retired in 2022.
Kevin loved to golf and being on the links afforded him the opportunity to partake in one of his favorite pastimes, socializing. He was witty, generous, and kindhearted. Well-loved by all that knew him, he maintained numerous friendships for many years. He was extremely handy and reliable to a fault, always willing to lend a helping hand at the drop of a hat. Kevin was known to have a stellar memory, often recalling dates, times, and places which led him to tell stories sometimes repeatedly. He was also a car enthusiast, a trait he passed on to his youngest son, as well as a trivia buff. He had a love for all genres of music, and this was true by the variations of music downloaded on his beloved iPod. Kevin’s true passion and the love of his life was family. He loved nothing more than spoiling the grandchildren. Spending time playing with them, teaching them new things, taking them to McDonalds or buying them a gift. A true family man, he put the needs of his children and grandchildren first.
Kevin Westly Johnstone, age 68 of Monroe passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday; November 15, 2023, at his home. His passing was preceded by his parents: Edward and Agnes Johnstone and a sister: Kathleen Johnstone.
To cherish Kevin’s memory, he leaves his daughter: Lesley Johnstone of Brownstown, Michigan; two sons: Ross and Levi Johnstone, both of Taylor, Michigan; mother of his children: Susan Matto; a sister: Debbie Johnstone of Florida; two brothers: Barry Johnstone of California and Bob Johnstone of Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren: Derrick Pipkens Jr., Lucas Johnstone, and Olivia Johnstone. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to further honor Kevin by asking those that knew him to continue to be generous and charitable, and to “pay it forward” when you’re able.
