Obituary of Karyn Sue Cooley
Karyn Sue Cosby was born on September 6, 1955, in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of five children born to the union of Archie and Hazel (Bussell) Cosby. Karyn attended Monroe High School and although she never graduated, was very proud of herself for obtaining her GED from the Monroe County Community College later in life.
Karyn kept herself very busy with work. For more than twenty years, she was employed by the Ford Motor Company, retiring in 2021. She also worked as a teacher’s aide at Custer Elementary School and had been a manager at Walmart in Monroe.
Karyn was a member of the Monroe Moose Lodge 884. She loved to travel the world with her two sisters: Patricia and Sharon. Together the trio visited Paris, London, and the Bahamas. Karyn loved all the destinations but Atlantis in Nassau, Bahamas was her favorite. Karyn was looking forward to an upcoming trip to Las Vegas with plans of visiting the Grand Canyon. Karyn was a huge music aficionado and had the uncanny ability to name the song and band of anything she heard. She was very mechanically inclined and could assemble just about anything without the help of the instructions.
Karyn was very kind and loving, with a great sense of humor and her smile alone would light up the room. She was the type of person that never met a stranger and could and would talk to anyone she came in contact with. Karyn’s life revolved around her family. She loved her boys and grandchildren dearly and was always sure to tell them how much they were loved. She enjoyed watching her grandson, Ryan, play football and granddaughter, Hailey, play volleyball. After Karyn’s father passed away, she became a wonderful caregiver to her mother, Hazel Cosby until her passing in January of 2023.
Karyn Sue Cooley, age 68 of Monroe, Michigan passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. Her passing was preceded by her parents: Archie and Hazel Cosby; a sister: Peggy Smith; and two brothers-in-law: David Woodfin and Charles Lyons.
