Obituary of Mark Wayne Keeton
Mark Wayne Keeton was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on August 28, 1955. He was the eldest of two sons born to Adrian Ray Keeton and Adah Sue (Dye) Keeton. After graduating from high school with the Class of 1973, Mark served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He was employed as a truck driver for Meijer for more than twenty years. Mark remained on the road working for various companies until retiring in 2018.
A simple man, Mark didn’t need much to be content. He enjoyed floating on his boat and casting a line in Lake Erie. If he were lucky enough to get a bite, Mark would fry up his catch but otherwise, he was just fine with eating spaghetti every day. At one time, he cultivated a large vegetable garden and was quite successful with his harvest each season.
Mark would rather listen to sports on the radio than watch it on television. An avid fan of Frank Zappa, he had the fortune to see him perform live a couple times. A private person, Mark kept mostly to himself. He was perfectly satisfied with life as long as he was relaxing at home with a drink in one hand and a smoke in the other.
Mark Wayne Keeton, age 68, of Petersburg, Michigan passed away unexpectedly at his home after a short illness on Tuesday; September 26, 2023. His passing was preceded by his parents: Adrian and Adah Keeton; three aunts; and three uncles.
To cherish his memory, he leaves a son: Chad (Lauren) Keegan; a daughter: Kaylee (Daylen) Chism; three grandchildren; his brother: Kevin Keeton; and his grand-dogs: “Dozer” and “Stoli”, both Bulldogs, whom Mark often cared for.
No public services are being planned at this time. Mark’s care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee; 297 Tecumseh Street, Dundee, Michigan 48131 (734) 529-3156. Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation, of Erie, Michigan.
