Obituary of Larry Dean Harmon
Larry Dean Harmon was born on December 18, 1944 in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of seven children born to the union of Beecher Harmon and Nellie (Evans) Harmon.
On July 7, 1975, in LaSalle Township, Michigan Larry married the love of his life, the former Helena Cicero and together the couple were blessed with two daughters; Irene and Veronica; Larry had been blessed with three children; Jeff, Shelly and Tammy from his previous marriage. . Larry provided for his family being employed as a truck driver for the City of Monroe for many years.
Larry loved spending time outdoors enjoying the warmth of the sun, a cool summer breeze, and hanging out with his friends. He enjoyed working with his hands and was often out in the garage tinkering with bicycles or working on a television. He liked to watch old black and white television shows or listen to music with country and especially Elvis Presley being his favorites. Larry always turned the volume up whenever he heard “Blue Suede Shoes” being played. Larry truly enjoyed and cherished the times he spent with his grandchildren.
Larry Dean Harmon, age 78 of Monroe, Michigan passed away on Tuesday; September 19, 2023, at the IHM Senior Living Community surrounded by his loving wife and children. His passing was preceded by his parents: Beecher and Nellie Harmon; three sisters: Margaret, Joann “Pug”, and Nancy; three brothers: Carl, Jay, and Hollis Harmon; and two granddaughters: Caitlyn Gratz and Amy Harmon.
To cherish Larry’s memory he leaves his loving wife of forty-eight years: Helena Harmon of Monroe; four daughters: Shelley Lingar of Monroe, Tammy Gratz of Toledo, Ohio, and Irene and Veronica Harmon both of Monroe; a son: Jeff Harmon of Monroe; sixteen grandchildren: Amber Lingar, Christopher Lingar, Tyley Lingar, Amanda Labudie, Daniel Gratz, Alecia Harmon, Ashley Terry, Damon Davis Jr, Stephen Blunt Jr., Taleah Blunt, Nasir Gray, Kayla Harmon, Nivea Blunt, Alexander Harmon, Omari Overstreet, and Devin Carr; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 6:00pm on Monday; September 25, 2023, at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. A Celebration of Larry’s Life will be held at 6:00pm, also at Merkle’s with Pastor BJ McDaniel of One-Way Christian Fellowship of Monroe officiating. Cremation will follow through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
