Obituary of Timothy Jon Dicks
Timothy Jon Dicks was born on October 18, 1974, in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of four children born to Leonard and Kathleen (VanWashenova) Dicks. Tim graduated from Airport High School in Carleton, Michigan with the Class of 1993. A talented carpenter, he was a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 687 for more than twenty years. Tim had most recently been employed by EWI Worldwide.
An avid outdoorsman, Tim often camped in his pop-up camper. He competed in many Bass tournaments alongside his son. The pair traveled to Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia in hopes of reeling in a big one. Tim also enjoyed deer hunting at his brother-in-law’s property in Hillsdale, Michigan and once took a memorable bear hunting trip to Maine. An excellent cook, his family always looked forward to his fish fry’s and smoked meats.
Tim was a staunch supporter and part time boxing coach of Joe’s ALCC Boxing Club in Monroe. He donated time and his carpentry skills to build seven boxing rings for the club. Tim maintained very active Amazon and Facebook Marketplace accounts. He was always on the hunt for treasures including many tools and toys. Although he was mild mannered, Tim never minced words. He could always be counted on to speak candidly and to give good advice. A loving father, there was nothing that meant more to Tim than his boys. They were always at the center of his world. Although Tim wasn’t the best dancer, he never missed the opportunity to break out his signature moves, the lawn mower, the sprinkler and pencil sharpener.
Timothy Jon Dicks, age 48, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at his parent’s home on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his forever fiancé: Tara Bunker; two sons: Timothy Jon “T.J.” Dicks II (Michaela Brownell) and Vance Dicks; his parents: Leonard and Kathleen Dicks; his sister: Sherry Venier (Greg Saul); two brothers: Scott (Raquel) Dicks and Denny (DePriest) Dicks; six nieces and nephews: Jordan, Zachary, Jacob, Olivia, Alex, and Jeff; and close friends: Danny, Ed, and Todd.
