Obituary of Marilyn Pauline Kaiser
Marilyn P. Meier was born in Monroe, Michigan on April 24, 1934. She was one of three daughters born to the union of Oswald Meier and Emily (Herrmann) Meier. She attended Monroe Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1952 from Monroe High School.
Marilyn was married to the love of her life, Marvin Walter "Barney" Kaiser, by the Reverend Raymond Heine on October 2, 1954 at Christ Lutheran Church. The couple were blessed with three children.
Marilyn and Barney purchased the Fred W. Meier and Sons Office Supply in 1960. They soon added Hallmark Cards and Gifts. They worked together until selling the business in 1988.
A charter member of Christ Lutheran Church, Marilyn remained very active, and served on many committees. Her Christian faith was extremely important to her. She was a fifty-year member of Theta Eta Chapter of Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, the Monroe Thrift Shop, and a mobile meals volunteer.
Marilyn Pauline Kaiser, age 89, of Monroe passed away at home unexpectedly on Sunday; August 13, 2023. Her passing was preceded by her parents; her husband: Barney in November of 2014; her daughter: Kathy Torres in July of 2023; and two sisters: Betty Servis and Emily Klingensmith.
To cherish her memory, she leaves two sons: Kent A. (Denise) Kaiser of Jerome and Kevin W. Kaiser of Monroe; a son-in-law: Alfred Torres of Monroe; nine grandchildren: Ryan (Sarah) Rafko, Derek (Kellie) Kaiser, Brent (Shaowen) Kaiser, Kyle (Stephanie) Kaiser, Cory Newcomer (Donovan Williams), Erin (Joel) McElvany, Allie (Andrew) Whited, Sarah Kaiser, Michael Kaiser; and eleven great grandchildren: Nolan, Macie, Camden, Donovan, Roman, Emmett, Rune, Roise, Amelia, Jack, and Ren.
Friends may gather from 10:00am until 11:00am on Saturday; August 26, 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church; 225 East Elm Avenue, Monroe, Michigan 48161. A Funeral Service Celebrating Her Life will follow at the church at 11:00am with Rusty Ward officiating. Following the service, all in attendance will be invited to stay for a memorial luncheon in the church fellowship hall. Private inurnment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, Michigan.
Her care was entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe; 14567 South Dixie Highway, Monroe, Michigan 48161 (734) 241-7070. Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
