Obituary of Julie Kleinow

Julie Catheleen Collins was born in Jonesville, Virginia on January 16, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Tillman and late Roxie (Spurlock) Collins. She moved to the Monroe area in 1951 and attended Dundee High School.
Julie married George Kleinow on January 12, 1957 in Wyandotte. First and foremost, Julie was a homemaker. She was a supportive farmer's wife, wonderful mother, and extremely caring grandmother. She was a host, cooking, and entertaining her family for the holidays.
For thirty years, Julie drove bus for Airport Schools retiring in 1999. For eighteen years she worked at the Monroe County Fairgrounds serving as Gate Supervisor the last eight.
Julie had attended Holy Ghost Lutheran Church for many years. She was a past member of the Monroe Fraternal Order of the Moose Lodge 884, and the Elks in Flat Rock. She enjoyed traveling and had taken bus trips with the Carleton/ Ash Senior Citizen visiting Branson, Missouri, and had wintered in Florida for twelve years. Julie loved dancing with George and taking occasional casino trips throughout Michigan.
Julie, age 76 of Carleton passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at her home surrounded by family and under the care of Mercy Memorial Hospice. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by an infant grandson: Robert F. Cain III; grandson: William Domine; sisters: Martha Jane Stewart, Gladys Gibson-Modley, infant sister: Cora Lee Collins; and brother: Floyd Collins.
To cherish her memory she leaves a beloved husband of fifty-seven years: George; four children: Ricky Kleinow (Ruth Tubbs) of Monroe, Teresa Cain of Carleton, Julie Kleinow (Daryl Domine) of Monroe, and Cora Lee LaRoy of Carleton; five siblings: Homer Collins, Daniel (Delores) Collins, Eugene (Lilla Mae) Collins, Ala Mae Leedy, and Freda Phipps; ten grandchildren: Kurt Kleinow (Melissa Carrol), Julie and Kimberlee Fields, Christopher and Corey Abramoski, Jamie Cain (Cory Ericksen), Brianna Vanover, Justin, Elizabeth, and Jillian LaRoy; three great grandchildren with one on the way: Alex and Layla Kleinow, and Ryder Ericksen; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm, Friday, May 2, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, May 3 also at Merkle's. Procession will follow to Michigan Memorial Park for entombment.
