I always remember Don as a kind gentle soul . I worked in the Pediatric dept at the hospital where Don was working in the Respiratory Dept. he would always appear with a smile and that wonderful smell from his signature cologne. One day I told him he was always "a breath of fresh air" because he smelled so good. I think he was a little embarrassed so I told him..." of couse I have been changing diapers all night" he laughed. He touched so many people, RIP Don.

Regina and I are deeply saddened by Don's death. We know it had been a long road for Don and the Saul family. But we know he is with the God he loved and served. We offer our love and prayers to all of you. Our family ties run deep. Regina graduated with Matt. Matt and I have been friends since high school. I went to community college with Mona for a time. Michelle and I had a blast working in housekeeping at Mercy Memorial Hospital. I've known John as long as I knew Michelle. And of course I remember Emily. Renee, God love you, cared for my father when he was recovering at home following surgery. And Don. I had the pleasure and the privilege of working for Don for three years in Home Respiratory Care. Don was my kind of boss. He told you how it was going to be and then he let you do it. Do it well and he left you alone. Do it poorly and well...I never found out. Don taught me how to do it right. Of all the things I remember most about Don and working alongside him, I remember two things best. First, Don's sense of humor and his sarcastic observations. I remember many times talking to Don in his office and laughing. Always laughing. There were times when we didn't laugh of course. But I remember the humor. And most importantly I remember a conversation not long after I first started doing delivery/repair for Home Respiratory Care. I have carried this lesson with me since that day and I will carry it with me the rest of my life. One day I was rushing out to deliver oxygen to some of our patients. Don noticed my hurry and grabbed me before I ran out the door. It seemed to me that people who needed oxygen needed to breathe. I thought this meant that I should hurry. Maybe. But Don knew better. He said, "Listen to me. You may be the only person some of our patients see all week. If they offer cookies, eat them. If they want to tell you a story, listen. If they need a visit more than oxygen, visit for a while. Just take the time." And so I did. I do it now. It has made all the difference. Thank you Don.
