Nancy Cloud Darlington was born on February 14, 1919 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She was one of three children from the union of the late Edward Darlington and the late Mary (Cloud) Darlington.
After high school, Nancy attended college graduating with a bachelor's degree in teaching. Her career spanned twenty-six years teaching at Altoona School District as a 2nd grade teacher.
Nancy married the love of her life, Floyd Lynn, on December 5, 1941 in her parental home. From this union would come the birth of their five children.
Nancy received her spiritual nourishment at the 58th Street. Methodist Church in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She loved to hear scripture and the 23rd Psalm was her favorite passage.
As a compassionate and humble woman, Nancy was an encouragement for all whom she loved, always knowing exactly what to say and when. She had a resilient and positive attitude, never having anything negative to say. Others were drawn to Nancy's smile and great sense of humor.
Nancy had strong family values. She loved her family and cherished the quality time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, during family get-togethers. Nancy traveled extensively with family as her destination often resulting in meeting additional family. Her last trip was to Birmingham, Alabama to attend her granddaughters wedding.
Nancy Cloud Lynn, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 8, 2014. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her loving husband: Floyd Ellsworth Lynn; two brothers: Jim and Bud Darlington.
To cherish her memory, Nancy leaves two daughters: Sandy Lynn of Hollidysburg, Pennsylvania and Jennifer (Ron) Strohmeyer of Monroe; three sons: Allan (fiance Karen) Lynn of Altoona, Pennsylvania, Joe (Jenny) Lynn of Ashland, Ohio and Steve (Lonna) Lynn of Hebron, Kentucky; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren
Cremation has taken place through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia. At the convenience of the family, a memorial service will be held at the 58th Street Methodist Church in Altoona, Pennsylvania at a later date. Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185 has been entrusted with her arrangements.
