Pryor "Sonny" Lee Hodge Jr.
June 6, 1948 - January 31, 2014
Pryor "Sonny" Lee Hodge Jr. was born in Middlesboro, Kentucky on June 6, 1948. He was the son of the late Lee Hodge and Hazel Dalton. He married the love of his life, the former Jennifer Garrett, on March 12, 1976 in Monroe. Together they would raise one son.
Sonny retired from Chrysler as a machine operator after 20 years of employment. He served his country in the United States Navy, deployed to the Panama conflict during the Vietnam War. Sonny was a long-time UAW member and past president of the Dewey Stoney Point Association. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Sonny was a kind and loving person. He was everyone's favorite uncle and brother. Sonny loved his family and spending time with them was one of his highest priorities. He was a very generous man, giving whatever he could to those in need.
Sonny's television was always tuned into Red Wings games or reality programs. He faithfully played euchre every weekend with his family. Another one of Sonny's hobbies was raising German Sheppards.
Pryor "Sonny" Lee Hodge Jr., age 65 of Monroe, Michigan passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by two sisters: Emma and Carolyn.
To cherish his memory, Sonny leaves his beloved wife of thirty-seven years: Jennifer of Newport; one son: Andrew of Newport; two sisters: Norma (Jack) Sweat and Donna (Jerry) Held both of Monroe; one brother: Michael (Terri) Hodge of Erie.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe 2442 North Monroe Street, (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at 7:00pm also at Merkle's with Delmar Moore from Grace Missionary Baptist officiating.
