Obituary of Henry Walach
Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Henry Walach was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on August 11, 1926. He was the son of the late Andrew and Anastasia Walach. Henry married the love of his life, Diane Counterman, on October 11, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Henry and his wife received spiritual nourishment from the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church in Monroe.
Henry served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He supported his family as a local barber until he went into long distance truck driving. Henry was a lifetime member of the VFW.
Henry was a very personable man. Early on in a conversation with Henry, one would learn that he was very opinionated. His family would say that most times Henry was right. Even though he held firm to his opinions, he was very giving and generous with his love and possessions.
Henry had a sweet tooth and a love of red wine. In his younger years, he liked to travel. Henry was always looking for a bargain and dabbled in real estate by buying rental homes. He liked to go to casinos, watch western movies, play euchre and watch CNN news.
Henry Walach, age 87 of Monroe, passed away on Friday, January 31, 2014 at his home. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by five sisters: Stella, Irene, Olga, Florence and Nancy; a brother: Ed; a step-brother: Frank; a daughter: Dorothy Bernard.
