Janice Marene Podhola, 63, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born May 12, 1948 in Wayne, Michigan, she was the daughter of Robert and Doris Warner and Caroline Kovalski. Janice married her high school sweetheart, Glenn Podhola, on May 17, 1969 in Rockwood, Michigan.
Janice graduated from Airport High School in June 1966. While in school, Janice worked at Woody's A&W Root Beer Stand in Carleton, Michigan. After graduation she was employed by K-Mart in Monroe, Janice went on to work for the Department of Defense in Detroit until she retired in 2004.
Janice enjoyed jewelry making, scrap booking, camping, playing cards and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She always had a warm smile and a quick sense of humor.
Friends may call from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday January 25, 2012 at Bennett Funeral Services, 14567 S. Dixie Highway and on Thursday January 26, 2012 from 9:00am - 11:00am. Funeral services will be at 11:00am Thursday, Tom Treece of Guided Ministries officiating. Cremation will follow.
Surviving are her husband, Glenn; children; Christopher Podhola of Monroe, Debbie (Chris) McEachran of Carleton, Kimberly (Dan) Norris of Belleville, Michigan, brothers; Mike (Bonnie) Warner of Monroe, Dr. Dennis (Linda) Warner of Temperance, Thomas Warner and Martha Sturn of Monroe,six grandchildren, half siblings; Deborah Schultz of New Hudson, Michigan, Leslie Rish , Cynthia Haveman both of Taylor, Michigan, Christopher Kovalski of Detroit,Michigan, Andrew Kovalski of Gaylord, Michigan and Paul Kovalski of Ludington, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sandra Freimark and half brother Daniel Haveman.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Memorial Hospice Care of Monroe.
