Obituary of Roger Vroman

Roger Clarence Vroman was born in Richmond, Michigan on May 6, 1927. He was the son of the late Clarence Vroman and Clara (Keucken) Vroman. Roger honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Roger supported his family after the military as a Tool & Die Maker for over thirty years before retiring. He was a champion motorcycle and car racer at both Flat Rock and Toledo Speedway. Roger was a member of the VFW Post 3943, American Legion, Carleton Gun Club, and the NRA. He loved to dance with the ladies at the VFW and always seemed to have just the right thing to say at just the right time.
Roger enjoyed fishing for Walleye at Lake Erie and hunting in his off time. He was a caring man and was much loved. Roger married the love of his life, the former June Johnson in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 26, 1986. He also had two dogs that he cared deeply for named Boo-Boo and Bee-Bee.
Roger Clarence Vroman, age 86 of Monroe, passed away on December 6, 2013 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his first wife: Ruby Vroman; and two brothers: Edward Vroman and Donald Vroman.
To cherish his memory, Roger leaves his loving wife of 27 years: June Vroman; two daughters: Pamela (Kenneth) Cork and Tina Vroman, both of Indiana; two step-children: Cheryl (David) McKay of Monroe and John (Jenny) Carter of Tennessee; two brothers: Robert (Nellie) Vroman and Russell (Peggy) Northbranch; five grandchildren: Logan, Casey, Sheyla, Adreah, and Rachel; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 3:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of His Life will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 11:00am also at Merkle's with Pastor Tony Lynn of Raisinville Baptist Church officiating. Procession will follow to Huron Valley Cemetery in Flat Rock for burial.
