Yvonne Ella Oley was born in Monroe, Michigan on March 12, 1937. She was one of seven children born from the union of the late Floyd T. Myers and the late Ruby (Wiley) Myers.
Yvonne married the love of her life, Joseph Herman Oley, on May 26, 1956 in Monroe, and from this union would come the birth of three children. Yvonne was a beautiful wife with a heart of gold. She was honest and to the point. As a mother she was loyal, forgiving, and loving. Yvonne's passion for her children showed through the love that she gave them. She had a great sense of humor and she enjoyed poking back and forth with her family. Yvonne was generous with her home as well always opening it up to guests.
Yvonne was a member of North Monroe Street Church of God and the United Auto Workers Local 723. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, Euchre being her favorite. Yvonne also loved visiting the casino, cooking and baking. She could often be found fishing or watching her wrestling shows.
Yvonne Ella Oley, age 76, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at her home at 2:00pm on Wednesday December 4, 2013. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister: Eileen and a brother: Richard.
To cherish her memory, Yvonne leaves her loving husband of fifty-seven years, Joseph; one daughter: Connie Thomas of California; two sons: Robert of Newport and Anthony (Sadie) of Monroe; a brother: Melvin (Linda) Myers; three sisters: Rose Myers; Beverly (Frank) Sulfaro, and Lisa Barton: eight grandchildren: Aaron, Chad, Jared (Chelsea), Robert (Jessica); Christinna, Karissa, Stephanie and Michela; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Saturday, December 7, 2013 and from 2:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734)384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will be at 11:00am on Monday, December 9, 2013 also at Merkle's. Procession will follow to Woodland for burial.
