Obituary of LaVern Perry

LaVern Theodore Perry was born in Deerfield, Michigan on September 24, 1922. He was one of six children born from the union of the late Vern and Mildred (Miller) Perry. LaVern served his country honorably in the United States Navy.
LaVern married the love of his life, the former Margaret McCarty, in Wildwood, New Jersey on January 19, 1945. From this union would come the birth of four children. For twenty-nine years, LaVern supported his family as a Machine set-up person for Ford Motor Company. He was a proud member of the UAW.
LaVern was an avid outdoorsman, and made the most of opportunities to hunt and fish. He loved to tinker with things and he was a talented wood-worker. LaVern had a great sense of humor, and got along well with others. In his free time, LaVern liked to play games such as skip-bo and work on puzzles.
LaVern Theodore Perry, age 91 of Gaylord, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at his daughter's home. In addition to his parents, his passing was preceded by his beloved wife: Margaret; two brothers: Roy Perry and Alvin Perry; a son: David Perry; a grandson: David Perry, Jr; and his second wife: Ethel McCarty Stacy.
To cherish his memory, LaVern leaves his two sons: Robert Perry and Dennis (Lori Budziak) Perry of Brownstown; daughter: Rita (Reverend John) Fultz of Carleton; sister: Lola Reau of Blissfield; two brothers: George (Bert) Perry of Dundee and Bernard Perry of Ottawa Lake; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, November 29, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070 (formerly Bennett Funeral Services). A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., also at Merkle's, with Father John Dumas of St. Patrick Catholic Church, officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle where a military service will be held under the auspices of the Monroe VFW Post 1138.
