Obituary of David Russell
Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Roy Russell was born in Wurtland, Kentucky on March 12, 1935. He was the son of the late Clarence and Almeda (Wilson) Russell. David attended high school in Kentucky where he received his diploma. He would then move to Michigan to find work.
David married the love of his life, the former Maryann Hulisz, on January 24, 1958 in Lambertville. From this union would come the birth of six children. For more than thirty-five years, David supported his family as a Laborer for the Dana Corporation retiring in 2000.
David was the "go-to" guy and very skilled with his hands. He was truly never able to just sit down and even after retirement he was always working on something. His handy work could be seen in his own yard as he completed a gazebo, shed, and an awning.
When David did take a day off, he enjoyed gardening or tinkering around the house. He was also a fan of horse racing and liked visiting the casinos to gamble. David had a great sense of humor and was fun to be around. Although he was known to be quite stubborn, he was also caring and loving cherishing his family and especially the grandchildren. David had attended First Apostolic Church in Toledo.
David, age 78 of Temperance, passed away at 12:22am on Monday, November 25, 2013 at his home. His passing was preceded by his parents.
To cherish his memory, David leaves his loving wife of fifty-five years: Maryann; three daughters: Jean (Jeff) Wohlgamuth of Temperance, Julie (Darren) Hixon of Ashville, North Carolina, and Sylvia Ann Russell of Toledo; three sons: David Russell and Dale Russell both of Temperance, and Michael (Chasity) Russell of Toledo; two sisters: Betty (Orville) France and Dreama (Elvis) Irvin both of Florida; three brothers: John (Geraldine) Russell, Milton (Marie) Russell, and Dan (Deb) Russell all of Florida; nineteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
