Kathleen Marie Trease was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 13, 1955, the third oldest of 11 children born to the late Joseph and Joanne Bobak. Kathleen attended Woodward High School and graduated in 1973. She was a practicing Catholic at St. Joseph Church in Erie, Michigan.
Kathy married the love of her life, Dennis Trease in 1976 at Rosary Cathedral in Toledo. She was a kind and caring woman who always looked out for others first. Kathy was very curious, fun loving, and had a special way of spreading joy to people around her. She loved flowers, the outdoors, being by water, and going on adventures. More so, Kathy loved her family and friends.
Kathy raised her children to balance hard work, education, and fun. She was active with extracurricular activities at Erie Mason schools. After her children went to college, Kathy enjoyed working at the Erie Library for 14 years. She loved story time, holiday decorating, designing the bulletin board, and was a member of the Friends of the Library.
Kathy loved to talk about the accomplishments of her children. Her son Brian earned a PhD at the University of Michigan and is an engineer at NASA JPL. Her daughter Nicole earned a PhD in Chemistry at Ohio State and is a researcher at Stony Brook University. Her son Tony earned a Masters from Eastern Michigan and works for the U.S. Geological Survey.
