Obituary of Raymond Keller

Raymond Lewis Keller was born in Sandusky, Ohio on August 22, 1936. He was one of two sons born to the union of the late Louis and the late Germaine (Renwand) Keller. Raymond graduated from Danbury High School in Marblehead, Ohio. He married the love of his life the former Joan Shackleton on April 14, 1972. Raymond began working in the marine industry in the mid 1950's. He took employment with Toledo Beach Marina in 1969. He quickly became known as one of the most skilled marine mechanics on the western end of Lake Erie. He was co-owner of Lake Erie Emergency Services from 1978 until 1993. As a licensed captain, Raymond worked hand in hand with the Toledo Coast Guard and Monroe County Sherriff's Department on multiple occasions to save lives during his career. Raymond loved the outdoors, partaking in fishing, golfing, and hunting. He was an avid University of Michigan football fan. He was an awesome people person, down to earth, highly respected, and loved by all. Raymond loved being a father and grandpa, cherishing the time spent with his family. He also loved his Toledo Beach Marina family. Raymond age 77 of LaSalle passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at his home. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by a son: Keith Wichert. To cherish his memory he leaves a loving wife of forty-one years: Joan of LaSalle; five sons: Terry (Chris) Keller, Denny (Ann) Keller, Tom Keller, Robert (Kim) Keller, and Stephen Keller; two daughters: Lynn (Jay) Silverwood and Rae Rembowski; one brother: Edward (Bonnie) Keller; ten beloved grandchildren: Allison (Shaun) Faulk, Amanda Keller, April Keller, Charlotte (Josh) Velasquez, Chelsea Keller, Jacob Keller, Erica Keller, Ritchie Rembowski, Benjamin Keller, and Gavin Keller; five great grandchildren: Dylan, Seth, Aragon, Jaxson, and Baylee; and one niece: Germaine Keller. Friends may gather for a Graveside Service at 10:00am on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Roselawn Memorial Park, 13200 South Dixie Highway in LaSalle, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070 (formerly Bennett Funeral Services).
