Helen Lucille Girrbach was born in Piqua, Ohio on September 9, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Apple and Celia (Ferree) Apple. Helen earned her diploma at Cooley High School in Detroit, Michigan.
Helen married the love of her life, George Girrbach, Jr. on May 7, 1941 in Detroit and made Newport their home in 1950. From this union came the birth of three children. Helen supported her family as a homemaker and was a great seamstress. After raising her children, she was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen enjoyed traveling the United States and many countries. She also loved vacationing in Northern Michigan. Helen was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Newport.
Helen Lucille Girrbach, age 89 of Newport, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her loving husband: George Girrbach, Jr.; and a brother: Victor Apple.
To cherish her memory, Helen leaves behind a daughter: Ilene (Ray) Zorbaugh of Temperance; two sons: Mark (Connie) Girrbach of Newport and Tom (Jan) Girrbach of Manchester; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Arrangements have taken place through Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A private Memorial service will be held at a later date.
