Jayne Ann Bonnell was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 31, 1954. She was one of five children born from the union of the late Edward Bonnell and the late Delma (Brown) Bonnell. Jayne attended Erie Mason Schools graduating from high school with the Class of 1972. Jayne attended Nursing School in Youngstown, Ohio and obtained her LPN certification. For sixteen years she supported herself as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home before taking a medical retirement in 2009. After her retirement, Jayne moved back to the area. She had always had a special bond with family and this moved afforded her the ability to reconnect with her sisters, and nieces and nephews. Jayne was an animal lover, and truly cherished the companionship she received from dogs, often attempting to take friendly ones home with her. She enjoyed spending time on her computer, and over the past few years had used Facebook to stay in touch with numerous family and friends, and to entertain herself with online games. Jayne enjoyed crocheting and reading. Her reading interests were varied and she would read just about anything she could get her hands on. Jayne was a member of the American Legion Post 193 Ladies Auxillary in Luna Pier. For the past three years, Jayne had enjoyed sharing time with her significant other: Gary Delong. Jayne Ann Bonnell, age 59 of Luna Pier passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, November 10, 2013. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by a brother: Bruce Bonnell, a nephew: Lucas Delong; and eleven aunts and uncles; and her beloved lab: Lucky. To cherish her memory, Jayne leaves three sisters: Janice (Bill) Raymond of Erie, Michele (David) Delong of Luna Pier, and Kelly Bonnell of Toledo; a sister-in-law: Myra Bonnell of Goose Creek, South Carolina; ten nieces and nephews, nine great nieces and nephews with one on the way; and one aunt: Jesse McCormick of Tennessee. A private gathering was held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit Street in Erie (734) 848-5185. Cremation followed through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia. In lieu of flowers memorial donations are suggested to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
