Stephen Charles Campbell, Sr. 58 of Monroe, Michigan passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at his home. He was born on August 4, 1955 to the late Charles H. Campbell, Jr. and Christine Vining.
Stephen graduated from Monroe High School in 1975. He began his career with DTE in July of 1975 and after 38 dedicated years of service he retired in July of 2013; he was a certified welder.
Stephen was a very generous, giving, well-known man throughout the community. He was always willing to extend a hand to those in need. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and most of all grilling on his homemade monster grill. He was known for his ribs-they were second to none! He often hosted backyard barbeques for family and friends. He also enjoyed helping with projects at the City of Faith Christian Church.
Stephen being the jack of all trades had the ability to build a grill from the ground up to maintaining a beautiful yard and garden. He loved his dog Oreo. He enjoyed riding him around and taking him for walks at Hellenberg Park.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Christine Vining; a son, Stephen Charles Campbell, Jr.; seven sisters, Christina Campbell, Carol Wilson, Rhonda Campbell, Valeria (Damon) Calvert, Sylvonnah (Jerome) Harvard of Inkster, Michigan, Linda (John) Tyree of Temperance, Michigan, and Judy Norwood of Detroit, Michigan. Six brothers, Elmer(Helen) Vining of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Cranston Campbell, Barron (Dannette) Campbell, David (Beth) Campbell, Daniel(Dori) Hudson-Campbell, Edward Koch.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Campbell, Jr. and a sister, Jill Fern Campbell.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 14567 South Dixie Hwy. (734-241-7070) - formerly Bennett Funeral Services. A Homegoing Celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11:00am also at Merkle's with Pastor Willie Elam officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn Memorial Park for burial.
