Obituary of Bertha Jagutis
Please share a memory of Bertha to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bertha Jagutis, age 90, of Monroe, was called home to Heaven on Friday, October 11, 2013. In addition to her parents, her passing was preceded by her husband of fifty years, Jakobs; two of her brothers, and two of her sisters.
Bertha Enzin was born in Rudaiciai, Lithuania on August 22, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Mikolas and Urte Enzin. She married the love of her life, Jakobs Jagutis, in Karnin, Germany on November 18, 1945.
Bertha and Jakobs moved to Monroe in 1957 and began building a new life together. Bertha was a hard worker, often having multiple jobs to help support her family. After retiring, she volunteered for eighteen years at the Damascus House in Monroe.
Bertha enjoyed baking and was also an excellent cook. She liked to knit and was extremely talented with crocheting. Each one of her blankets was made with love, and she enjoyed being able to give them to her loved ones. Bertha was also an avid gardener; she spent many hours each summer tending to her vegetables and flowers. She was always excited to travel with her family throughout the U.S. and Europe. Family was most important to her; she was a constant cheerleader at her children and grandchildren's activities.
To cherish her memory, Bertha leaves a brother, Paul (Barbal) Enzin and a sister, Lina (Horst) Frank of Germany; four children: Helmut Jagutis (Pearl Carter) of Howell; Erika "Ricci" (David) Brinkel of Hilton, NY; Alvin (Scott) Jagutis of Monroe; and Roland Jagutis of Monroe; seven grandchildren: Michelle (Dave) Eldridge, Meredith Jagutis, D.A. (Tammy) Brinkel, Paul (Jennifer) Brinkel, Stevie Jagutis and fiancé, Mike Moutrey; Ryan (Joe) Hamilton, Kaci (Chase) Spirito; and five great-grandchildren, Alex and Ryan Eldridge, and Kelsey, Lindsey, and Avery Brinkel with another great-grandchild due in January.
