Obituary of Shyrel McBee

Please share a memory of Shyrel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Shyrel Ann Barnes was born in Garden City, Michigan on November 23, 1957. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Florence (Kinkade) Barnes. She attended school in Lincoln Park. Shyrel married Kevin A. Myer, and later married Roy McBee Sr. She was a homemaker for her children and husbands, but for more than ten years had been employed by Aspen Grove Assisted Living as a cook. Shyrel adored her family and she spent as much time with them as she could. Later in life she had the joy of grandchildren and cherished the unique relationships she developed with each one of them. Shyrel looked forward to her annual trip to Oklahoma to catch up with her other family members. Shyrel was deeply loved by all that knew her. Although, she was strong-willed, independent, and could be a little frisky at times, these traits were only surpassed by her love and constant charity towards others. Shyrel enjoyed going to bingo, garage saleing, and loved playing baseball with her brothers. She also liked doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, and visiting the casinos for penny slots. Shyrel Ann McBee age 55, of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly at 7:51pm on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by two children: Oscar Myer and Amanda Barnes, and a brother: Charles "Chuck" Barnes. To cherish her memory she leaves three loving children: Dawn (Steven P.) Johnson Sr. of Monroe, Julie (Robert) Carr of Lakeland, Florida, and Roy (Ashley Cloum) McBee of Monroe; one brother: Kenneth Barnes of Wyandotte; and one sister: Freda (Randy) Sluder of Edmond, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren: Sonny Johnson, Steven P. Johnson Jr., Sonya Johnson, Lucus Piechowski, Kylie Chadwell, Carter McBee, Scott Carr, Robin Carr, Amanda Lefevre, and Natalie McBee; and two great grandchildren: Colton and Peyton. A private visitation was held for family and cremation has taken place through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan. Friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 10:00am until 1:00pm at Merkle Funeral Service 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185.
