Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen Emma Gasper November 15, 1925--September 21, 2013 Helen Emma Stateler was born in Fostoria, Ohio on November 15, 1925. She was one of seven children born from the union of the late Verne Stateler and the late Rose (Gerick) Stateler. Helen married her high school sweetheart on June 23, 1942 in Napoleon, Ohio. She and her husband resided in Carleton where they raised their six children. Helen was a stay-at-home Mom who was always there, supportive and encouraging. She was a loving grandma who treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To cherish her memory, Helen leaves her very devoted husband for nearly seventy-two years: William Gasper; six children: Sandra (James) Friederichs of Carleton, Sharon (Robert) Eby of Maybee, Kenneth of Ypsilanti, Rodney (Catherine) Gasper of Williamson NY, Teresa (James) Helems of Charleston SC and Annette (Michelle Marcero) of Dundee; ten grandchildren: Michael, Kristine, Todd, Kimberlee, April, Matthew, Joy, James, Jaime and Terry; twenty great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and several "'Grand-Dogs." Helen Emma Gasper, age 87, of Carleton passed away peacefully on September 21, 2013, surrounded by her family. In addition to her parents, her passing is preceded by a son: William "Billy" John Gasper; two sisters; four brothers; one granddaughter: Mary Frances; and a grandson in-law: Jim Hines. Helen accepted her daughters-in-law as her own natural daughters. All family remains very close despite the geographical distances. Helen loved family get-togethers and dinners; therefore, her desire was for the family to reunite and enjoy their traditional pizza party as her memorial. Cremation has taken place through Southern Michigan Services in Livonia, Michigan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe Street (734) 384-5185. A Memorial outing will be planned in her memory for the summer of 2014. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested in her honor to Mercy Memorial Hospice.
