George Noah Folk Jr. was born on July 12, 1949 in Monroe. He was the only son born from the union of the late George Noah and Norma June (Dibert) Folk Sr. George graduated from Monroe High School with the class of 1967 before attending Monroe County Community College.
He married the former Linda (Barney) Sudduth April 29, 1977 in Toledo, Ohio. From this union would come the birth of one daughter: Sarah. George worked as a laborer for many years in the construction industry. For more than fifteen years he was employed by Continental Security as a Security Officer.
George was born again as a Christian in 1977. He would work tirelessly the rest of his life to bring others to Christ. George was very active in his church, New Beginnings Baptist Church and loved working with the youth. He served as Deacon, Prayer Chairman, Sunday School Teacher, and Vacation Bible School Instructor. His personality left his mark on all those he came in contact with. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and share jokes. George was extremely intelligent. He enjoyed watching his television judges (Judy and Mathis) and challenged himself with crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He loved spending time with his family.
George age 64 of Erie passed peacefully from this life into eternal glory on the Lord's Day Sunday, August 18, 2013. In addition to his parents his passing was preceded by two sisters: Kathy Reynolds and Linda Richter.
To cherish his memory he leaves a wife: Linda of Erie; daughter: Sarah of Erie; his adopted first born: Elisa (Kevin) Shine; four sisters: Betty (Wayne) DeLisle of Charlotte, NC, Judy (Helmut) Brauninger of Marion, Cindy (Mike) Miller Sr. of Monroe, and Norma Tower of Toledo; two brothers-in-law: Lennard (Rose) Barney and Ralph Barney both of Toledo; two grandchildren: Tyler Sackett and Jonathan Shine.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm, Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit in Erie (734) 848-5185. A Celebration of His Life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, August 22, also at Merkle's. Pastor Lowell Whitten will officiate. Cremation will follow.
