Obituary of Frances Strimbel

Frances Lee Hance was born in Newport, Tennessee on June 28, 1943. She was the daughter of the late David and Evaleeka (Durbin) Hance moving to Monroe at the age of four. She attended Monroe Public Schools graduating from high school in 1961. Following high school, Frances attended Northwestern School of Nursing and Henry Ford Community College graduating with her degree in Nursing.
She married the love of her life Robert "Bob" Strimbel on June 3, 1961 in Ann Arbor.
For more than thirty years, Frances was employed as a registered nurse. She was Director of Nursing at the Fountains of Franklin in Canton, and had also been employed by Mercy Memorial Nursing Center, Frenchtown Convalescent Center, and Belle Woods Convalescent Home in Belleville retiring in 2000. In her free time, Frances enjoyed crafts. She loved to spend time with Robert and camping was a favorite pastime. They spent many years visiting Goose Lake in Jackson. Together they enjoyed visiting the casino. Frances was especially fond of the time that she shared with her family.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, a member of the Frenchtown Senior Citizens, and Monroe Lodge 884, Loyal Order of the Moose.
Frances Lee Strimbel age 70 of Monroe passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Mercy Memorial Hospital. Her passing was preceded by her parents.
To cherish her memory she leaves a loving husband off nearly fifty-two years: Robert "Bob" Strimbel of Monroe; three daughters: Tobi (Russ) Young of Frenchtown Township, Tonya (Kurt) Quatro of Newport, and Tara (Dino) Diterlizzi of Temperance; one son: Robert (Mary Lou) Strimbel Jr. of Carleton; two sisters: Brenda Didario of Dandridge, Tennessee and Linda (Richard) Ramsey of Morristown, Tennessee; two brothers: David S. (Linda) Hance, Jr. of Monroe and John Allen (Terry) Hance of New Boston; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Friends may gather from 2:00-8:00pm, Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. A Rosary will take place at 5:00pm on Sunday. She will lie in state from 10:00am until the Mass of the Resurrection at 11:00am, Monday, August 19 at St. John the Baptist, 511 South Monroe Street, Father James Smalarz officiating. Procession will follow to Roselawn for burial.
