Obituary of Leroy Doty

Leroy John Doty October 19, 1931 - August 2, 2013 Leroy John Doty was born on October 19, 1931. Leroy married the love of his life, the former Joyce Barber, 57 years ago. From this union came the birth of three children and one adopted daughter. Leroy was self-employed and supported his family hauling steel as a Trucker for over fifty years. He was known for working hard, as he quit school in the eighth grade and started to work on a farm. Leroy was stubborn and bull-headed and never held back. He would do what he had to get his way but he was also thoughtful and sincere. When Leroy was younger he was an avid hunter, traveling to Alaska, Up North, and the western states. He enjoyed going to the Frenchtown Senior Center where he spent his time playing pool and won the Senior Tournament. Leroy John Doty, age 81 of LaSalle passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Magnum Care of Monroe on Friday, August 2, 2013. In addition to his parents passing, he was preceded by two sons: Bob Doty and John Doty; a daughter: Sandy Gross; and his siblings. To cherish his memory, he leaves behind an adopted daughter: Penny Harper; a daughter-in-law: Brenda Doty of FL; a son-in-law: Ray Gross of Atlanta, GA; a sister-in-law: Betty (Harv) McClennan of TN; a granddaughter: Julie Marow (Joe Bissell) of Erie; two grandsons: Mike (Shanna) Marlow of Temperance and Randy (Sonya) Marlow of Monroe; four great grandsons and a great granddaughter. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to any animal societies.
