Robert L. Heinl, age 83, a life time resident of Dundee, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at his home under the care of his family and hospice. He was born in Dundee, Michigan April 20, 1931 the son of Clarence and Leota (Bamm) Heinl. Bob graduated from Dundee High School in 1949. He married Mary E. Kruse November 5, 1949 at her parents Dundee home. Officiating was the Rev. Fred Cesler, then pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in Dundee. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served during the Korean Conflict from February 13, 1952 until February 12, 1954. He worked as a milkman, an automobile parts salesman and for the Ford Motor Company Rawsonville Plant for 30 years. He retired in 1992. He is a member of the Harry W. Bamm American Legion Post # 72 in Dundee which was named after his uncle. He had served as Commander and Adjutant. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his yard, woodworking but especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His survivors include his wife Mary; daughters Patricia (Harold) Gaston of Dundee and Jeri (Michael) Dushane of Monroe; 5 grandsons Dougie, Aaron, Caleb, Josh (Kyna) Gaston and Adam Dushane; 1 granddaughter Claire Dushane; great-grandchildren Liam Robert and Zoe Gaston; sisters in law and brothers in law who always looked upon each other as their own; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters Evelyn Goss and Shirley Heinl, a son Michael and grandson Jonathan Dushane. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 – 8 P.M. at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). Friends may also call on Monday, May 5, 2014 from 10 A.M. until funeral services at 11 A.M. at the funeral home. Officiating will be his nephew the Rev. Fritz Kruse. Military services will be conducted by the Dundee Veterans Military Group. Cremation will follow the funeral home services.
