Charles R. Craft , age 71 of Dundee, passed away at his home on Friday, November 15, 2013. He was born in Monroe, Michigan October 22, 1942 the son of Harley and Clara (Schroeder) Craft. Charley graduated from Dundee High School in 1960. He had worked at Ford motor Company until taking a medical retirement. He served in the US Army as a Spec 4. His enlistment lasted from 1971 until his discharge at Fort Bragg, North Carolina in 1976. Most of his adult life was spent being involved and active with military affairs. He was a member of the 82nd and 102nd Airborne Divisions; was Past Post Commander of the Moore Lenz Wakefield American Legion Post 72 and Past Post Commander and life member of the Harry W. Bamm VFW Post 6462, both in Dundee; was a member of the Monroe County 40 et 8; Past President of the Dundee Veterans Memorial Corporation; member of the Sons of the American Legion; was a member of the VFW National Convention; was Past Chaplain of the American Legion Post in Dundee; and member of the National Past Chef de Gare Club. He was active in and coordinated the Dundee Military Honor Guard for many years. He also received the National Defense Service Medal. He is survived by his daughters Patricia (Lance) Farris of Loris, South Carolina and Cheryl (Joseph) McDevitt of Monroe; sister Marilyn Reagle of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; grandchildren Jessica LeAnn Farris; Alyssa Renee Farris, Justin Lee Rogge, Cynthia Ann Marie McDevitt, Michelle Megan McDevitt and Angus Gerald McDevitt; great-grandchildren Layla Rae Shannon and Samuel Colt Shannon. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Edward, sister Donna Fouts and niece Kathleen Costelli. Friends may call on Thursday from 1 – 8 PM at the Cover Funeral Home, 297 Tecumseh Street in Dundee (734-529-3156). Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, November 22, 2013 at the funeral home. Officiating will be the Chaplain and Commander of the Dundee Veterans Memorial Group. Interment with military honors will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dundee.
